There seems to be at least a subtle change to the approach governments are taking to handle the Coronavirus. The story below describes how Spain is preparing to treat the virus as an illness to handle, like the flu or the measles, as part of a new endemic response to the pandemic. Other countries are also moving in this direction- an ‘endemic phase’ is being considered in Portugal, and a post on Friday in The Leadership Matrix reported on the decision made in Britain to remove most restrictions.
It should be noted that the World Health Organization still does not have clearly defined criteria to declare Covid an endemic disease and there isn’t much talk in the U.S. about a comprehensive shift in virus-response strategy. Nevertheless, even subtle winds of change are encouraging as we learn to live with the dreaded virus.
